Role Summary

As a Sales Engineer at Compyl, you will play a vital role in supporting the sales organization by aligning our GRC platform with the technical and business needs of prospects and customers. You’ll serve as a subject matter expert throughout the sales cycle, delivering high-impact demos, scoping solutions, and advising on architecture and integration best practices.

This is a highly collaborative role that bridges the gap between sales, product, engineering, and customer success. You’ll also provide feedback that informs product roadmap decisions, onboarding strategies, and customer success planning.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Sales & Technical Consulting

  • Serve as the technical lead during the sales cycle, from discovery to close
  • Conduct in-depth discovery calls to uncover customer requirements and solution alignment
  • Deliver tailored product demonstrations, proof-of-concepts (POCs), and technical workshops
  • Collaborate with Account Executives to develop winning deal strategies and proposals

Solution Design & Enablement

  • Translate customer challenges into effective configurations of the Compyl platform
  • Develop technical documentation, solution overviews, and security architecture diagrams
  • Partner with implementation and product teams to ensure seamless handoff and delivery
  • Contribute to building scalable demo environments and reusable sales engineering assets

Industry Expertise & Thought Leadership

  • Stay current on industry regulations (SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST, HIPAA, etc.) and GRC trends
  • Act as a trusted advisor to both prospects and internal stakeholders on GRC best practices
  • Identify feature gaps or customer use cases and provide structured feedback to the product team
  • Support enablement efforts by mentoring junior team members and sharing domain expertise

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in sales engineering, solutions architecture, or technical consulting
  • Experience in SaaS sales cycles, ideally in cybersecurity, GRC, or compliance solutions
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred), security frameworks, and APIs
  • Proficient at communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Familiarity with demo tools, diagramming software, and CRM/engagement platforms
  • Bonus: Experience working in a startup or fast-paced sales environment

  • OTE: $200,000 to $260,000 (DOE)
